The San Ignacio de Loyola University was created as an innovative alternative within the teaching system; to promote vocational training for young professionals with sound knowledge in business management and with a professional scientific and humanistic formation that will enable them to successfully get by in a highly competitive labor market. Furthermore, our institution also encourages its students to start their own company and assists them in becoming self-sufficient and, thereby, to contribute to the development of our country. This is why the San Ignacio de Loyola University now manages the philosophy of “Being a University that forms enterprising business people”.

More than 10 years have gone by since the birth of this University became a reality and it is a clear fact that we have achieved great and significant changes that distinguish USIL as an institution open to cutting-edge technology and ready to welcome the new generations that will enter the university world. One of the most important achievements is that after such a short time, the San Ignacio de Loyola University is now acknowledged as one of the most prestigious in the country.

The university currently offers some program courses in English with a view to implementing, in the short term, more courses in English in all of its programs and finally become a bilingual university. In addition, the teaching of the English language as a course is mandatory in all our programs.

USIL favors decentralization; proof of it is the program: Semester in Cusco. According to this program, young students of the Tourism and Hospitality Management careers are currently working at the most important hotels and tourism agencies from the City while continuing their studies.

On the other hand, USIL has an international projection that started in 1993, with a school, Technical Baccalaureates and Extension Programs in Paraguay and, starting from this year, a university. Thus, USIL takes its educational experience to the world and opens its doors wide to the professional education of its students.

It is also important to stand out the achievement of young students from our university, who for the last five years have obtained the first places in an important competition that gathers the most important and prestigious universities in the country: “Proyecto Empresarial PRIMA AFP” (PRIMA AFP Business Project).

Lastly, I must mention the creation of the Business Entrepreneurship Center - PROBIDE, and the Business Extension Center, organizations that promote the support and development of small and middle-sized companies in our country. We have also developed the Social Responsibility area and its University Social Alliance - ASU initiative, with an aim that the students themselves will play leading roles in creating and implementing development and social aid projects.

Our commitment is and will continue to be the training and formation of highly competitive professionals with an enterprising spirit. We are satisfied with our accomplishments to date; nonetheless, this also commits us to raise our goals and to put in more effort everyday to provide the best services and the finest education for our students and thus contribute to the development of our country.
